Ok, I am downloading a program right now, called Sniff'em, it is a packet sniffer.

Ok, here is my problem, how do I send packets out?
Manually like.

I'm interested in Linux, however, I really have no knowledge about it.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as far as websites/distros/books that I should be looking at.

I thought if I ping the site, it would give me the IP that pinged back. However, when I try to connect to the site using the IP that it gives me, I get a page say...
