Re: webdev companies don't care!

I've seen this as well, people complain about hackers and stuff but they don't realise that the companies who are attacked probably knew about the vulnerability but chose not to act on it.

Re: Black screen on login

There is a SSD speed testing tool in that thread I linked to. I just ran the test and there are a few GBs worth off data which are read at 1MB/s, I think this could be the source of my troubles. Also, the age of the data is counted from when it was first written on my old SSD not when I cloned it wh...

Re: Black screen on login

The problem has come back again and I think I figured it out, my SSD is a Samsung 840 EVO which apparently has a firmware bug which makes old block read really slowly. Considering that I cloned my old SSD on to this, its possible that the bug is affecting me. Also, people have found that using certa...

Re: Windows 10...

I think it makes sense from a business perspective. RAID is typically used in server configuration and Windows isn't really popular for servers.

A decent RAID implementation would be nice but I think Microsoft is going down the user experience route :(

Re: Windows 10...

I had (and have) no time at the moment to really get into it, any new features announced in 10 you find especially interesting? :-k I like the feature that makes it pretty much like Windows 7 but with the Metro skin... :D There aren't really any ground breaking features, you can snap windows in mor...

Windows 10...

because 7 8 9 :D (sorry for the bad joke...), the actual reason behind skipping 9 is because they would check for Windows 9X versions by checking the OS name against the string "Windows 9" which will obviously cause some problems. Anyway, the technical preview is out and it seems ok from t...

Re: naked "celebrity" icloud "hack"...I call bullshit.

I think there are fake packs floating around, the one I found had videos and pics of the celebrities that either couldn't be faked or aren't likely to be faked due to the context of the content.

But I agree that a lot of the people targeted aren't really celebrities.

Formulae for fan spec calculation

Doing some research work with some fans and came across these formulae in a book: Airflow law: Fan airflow is proportional to its RPM Airflow1/Airflow2 = RPM1/RPM2 Static pressure law: Static pressure is proportional to the RPM squared SP1/SP2 = (RPM1/RPM2)^2 Horse power law (the book was old enough...

Re: Google's monopoly

so yeah, I keep using Chrome, simply because it's a stable and fast browser Actually, there is some evidence that Chrome's performance and stability is not consistent across hardware, the same can be said for FF. I have seen on some machines that flash does not work on FF, and other machines where ...

Google's monopoly

I was concerned about this for a while but its not clear when this will actually become real. Anyway, if we look at all the areas Google is involved in, sooner or later Google will have developed the first international monopoly, at this stage its only a matter of time. Long story short, recently a ...
