Re: Windows version download
The one problem I have with Windows 10 is that it's basically a giant piece of spyware wrapped in the guise of an operating system.

Re: How did you get into the computer world? What's the story?
It's interesting hearing your guys' "origin stories". You're really dating yourself there, bad_brain  How things started for me? I haven't thought about it in ages. It started when I was 9 years old, in 1999. My parents had just bought a home computer, for something like $1,500. It wa...

Yeah, go figure. Apple tries to find any excuse to not support any of their products.

Re: hacky hack hack - Apple pwnd
I read about this in the news earlier today. I fucking HATE Apple (and find it quite fitting that their name sounds like 'Asshole') so anything that hurts them as a company, I'm 110% for it.

Re: So... I'm getting kinda good at guitar :D
Thanks!
The key, in my opinion, is to just have fun with it. For me it's not practicing I just pick up the guitar and play because I like to. It's never too late to start learning, you'd be surprised how easy some very famous songs are!

So... I'm getting kinda good at guitar :D
I've been playing guitar for about 9 months (consistently anyway, I started playing 5 years ago, but stopped for 4 years) and I've always wanted to be able to play Hotel California by The Eagles. The below video is the result of two days of practice, which is about 8 hours of practice time. What do ...

Re: My pc has been hanging up on me
I'd recommend not running that hard drive until you determine if it has a problem. Continued use of the hard drive may cause further damage to it. As for how to backup a two terabyte hard drive, the only way I really know of is to buy another two terabyte hard drive and copy the data to it. Fortunat...

Re: My pc has been hanging up on me
Well, if it is a hardware problem, it's probably your hard drive. First thing I would do is make a backup of your data, if you haven't already. I'd also suggest checking the S.M.A.R.T. status of your hard drive. On Linux, you can use the smartctl utility: smartctl -a /dev/sda Also, you may want to r...

Re: Browser comparison
I can see how that would be annoying. It's not really a fix, but perhaps you can control caching from the server side? At least during the development process.

Re: Browser comparison
Wow, lots of Firefox haters here! I actually hate Chrome simply for the fact that it's closed source and made by Google. I don't trust Google. Chromium is ok though. I've been using Firefox for at least thirteen years*. It has had some issues, especially the memory bloat. I don't mind too much...

Re: why do people not know the basics of PC and smartphones?
Having been the "IT guy" at a company for 5 years I completely understand what you're getting at. It is baffling, but it's also human nature. People aren't interested in learning how to use their devices for any more than what they already do on them. It's like how most people drive cars, ...
