So I just got myself and my girlfriend two Tecra R850-00H laptops, built in core I5 ect ect. My girlfriend wants to make it her primary gaming device, however wants to still be able to use her Pycho Carbons. (A 5.1 gaming headset.) Does anyone know of a good expresscard 34 sound card with proper 5.1 surround sound ports? (None of this virtual surround sound stuff like this http://us.store.creative.com/Creative-S ... BS3A3E.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
P.S. I got an amazing deal on these laptops. They came used from sait university, they were teacher laptops. $483.00 CAD

hmm...tricky. I am not aware of an express card for REAL 5.1. you will most likely have to use an external soundcard like this one:

Yeah I was afraid I'd be stuck with usb. (These things don't have to many ports as it is. And they stuck all but one on the right hand side where you would normally want your mouse to sit lol. Does have a usb 3.0 on the left hand side though.) What I really need to do is convince her to invest in a gaming desktop.

yeah, a "gaming laptop" is an oxymoron anyway imo...the ones where you can play on in a decent way are not mobile anymore...except you carry a suitcase full of batteries with you, not to mention the insane price of such systems. for just half the money you get an awesome desktop system with twice the performance.

Yeah I've always kind of laughed at people who buy gaming laptops. (Had a couple friends who used to waste their money on them.) I purchased the tecra r850s for there battery life when you clock everything down. It's designed to run a Intel core I5 at full settings for like 2 hours. You can imagine what you can do when you under clock this puppy. lol Not to mention I got 2 for the price of 1.bad_brain wrote:yeah, a "gaming laptop" is an oxymoron anyway imo...the ones where you can play on in a decent way are not mobile anymore...except you carry a suitcase full of batteries with you, not to mention the insane price of such systems. for just half the money you get an awesome desktop system with twice the performance.
