Post by floodhound2 »

I have an old VHF movie that I had converted to a DVD. Now I want to put it on youtube or some other server. My problem is I nee to convert / edit some things - know of a free program that would work on a windoze box?

Thanks for looking.

Windows Movie Maker is pretty generic and easy to use for editing :-)

yep, the windows movie maker is pretty good for editing, I'm using it too since a while already!
if you want to convert it into another format than wmv afterwards I can recommend handbrake: http://handbrake.fr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

yea I admit - i use the window movie maker - it works pretty well - drag and drop, use the edit to start and end each clip, patch it up.

BTW to rip from youtube you use keep-tube.com

I second VLC media player. It'll basically take any input video source and you can "stream" it to file - with a good selection of audio/video codecs to to choose from. I recommend MP4 for uploading to youtube.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

Use Format Factory software. It's free and it's wonderful.

I've used avidemux a couple of times to convert the video format and add hard subtitles.

Code: Select all

Use 'free dvd Software' to convert the file to wmv
then use windows movie maker

Worked for me before now and is good to convert other files too.
