i was reading hack this zine and found this plugin for gaim or aim and some others i think. Here is the link: http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/
I use "gaim" so i got it. From what i understand, it doesnt really make sense if your friends dont have the plug in. But if they do, u can configure the plugin to automatically initiate private messaging.

It comes with GAIM and it has an encryption generator. Also if you read the tutorial you need your encryption key and the other encryption key from your friend to be able to crack it, so even if someone does get the message without both codes it is just a piece of gibberish. Either that or it will take a REALLY, Really, really long time to crack.

You can also generate encryption keys and save them to a USB stick and use that as your encryption key. Save the encryption key on a removable storage media.
