if you are using internet explorer open the browser goto tool then connection. goto the LAN settings then tick the box with automatic detect settings

if you are using firefox then goto tools / internet options /advanced / network / connection settings and make sure the auto detect settings option is selected

Yeah but if there's no Internet connection there's nothing to detect!!!!

I'm trying to find out how to make a Internet Connection Network type thing.

Do you intend on using a wireless card?

If so perhaps you need to install the driver
If drive is ok you will need to scan for a wireless network and connect to it
If the network is protected you will need a WEP key

Do you intent on using a Network Cable connected to the modem?

If so you, you will need to possibly turn off the modem for several seconds so that a new IP connection can be made – this is fairly common but typically a reboot from the pc will do

Also make sure make sure that the network adaptor is enabled in the device manager

Silly but make sure the cable is plugged into the network slot(Rj45) i have seen people plug it into the phone modem slot and puff goes cable modem.

If none of this works please specify if you are running service pack 2 and what web browser you are going to be using
