VMware

Post by Losing_grip »

Well , i was talking to bubzuru yesterday night about VMWare.

He explained some stuff about VMWare.

So i was downloading it and looking for keygen. (Until now im looking for the keygen)

While searching for keygen i saw this post

Code: Select all

ACE is an concept to store a VM-image on a USB memotystick and then you can boot your "PC" on the memorystick and run it on "any" device that have an USB-port.
It's like any PC that you can "bring" with you.
REALLY COOL....
But im wondering how much space would it need?

I got 2Gig USB Flash Drive.

and was wondering to buy this http://www.ebay.ph/viItem?ItemId=190149895264
which has 120 gig , will this USB work also?
thanks.

well, how much space it'll need depends on the OS....it needs the same space as a "usual" install....so the flash drive would be a little too small for more than a basic Linux system.
and the external HDD will work as good as the thumbdrive, just make sure your BIOS supports booting from USB.

but if you want to save a little money and have a spare IDE HDD: there are also adapters for IDE to USB for about 10-15 bucks...

when booting and enter bios and check to see if there is the option to boot from usb first and if there is then you can make sure it is enabled.

IDE stands for integrated drive electronics which is basically what connects the motherboard to your drives

IDE is a connection standard, most CD/DVD drives and harddisks are connected via IDE (well, for HDDs it's becoming a little outdated already, SATA is becoming the successor).
check here and you know what I mean:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT_Attachment

to check if you BIOS supports booting from USB simply enter BIOS and look in the boot options (where you can pick the HDD or CD ROM to boot from too)...

edit: damn, thuggy was faster...
