Blocking a shock site

Post by JohnB »

Hello, I'd like to block the "last measure" site from my computer. For those that don't know this is a very innovative shock site where replacing the asterisk with anything redirects to the shock site. [I have rendered the link useless with (dot).]

Code: Select all

http:*on(dot)nimp(dot)org
Mehtods I am aware of is the host file method but decided not to use it. Another avenue I explored is using this firefox add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145.

But the add on failed me. (perhaps I entered the wrong code in the blacklist)

So I'm asking what other ways are there to block this site ?

With a host based firewall like Comodo, I can just add URLs into a 'zone' to block it.

It seems comodo has a built in anti virus feature. Do you think I should uninstall AVG to free up resources?

well, 2 AVs at the same time is not only bad for the resources, they could also interfere with each other. so: yes...
