Python works on every operating system I know of, but I don't know anything about perl except that it apparently a powerful scripting language.

Both language cores and a lot of their libraries are cross-platform. They're both very cool, so you really can't go wrong there in my opinion.

my roomie here at college (F4LSE) is learning perl on his mac

As for what I have done... welllll im all moved in to college and finished my first weekd of classes and such
