I am on vacation and I am on this slow internet connection so I figured to do some testing. One of the things that I did was to ping google so I figured why not post the results and see what other people are getting!

remember they have multiple servers
I did two pings to 'www.google.com' and resulted in two IPs

Ping www.google.com (64.233.169.104) ...
1 Addr:64.233.169.104, RTT: 140ms, TTL: 236

Ping www.google.com (64.233.169.105) ...
1 Addr:64.233.169.105, RTT: 132ms, TTL: 236

here is why:

is a nice way to get the picture of a network.

Google is a big network and you can hop on from your area of the globe.

so, ping results of your specific IP here:

You can see the other IPs handling 'www.google.com' have better times, and that could vary as well too. A traceroute can point out why -

Your google IP 209.85.227.106 leads to the west coast, while my google network hop on is just the next state over.

Yeah, you are right about that. So I did another ping but I got pretty much same results.

My last google ping ended in a threat from google lawyers.

I guess my ping was too sexy for their pong.
