serial port monitoring?

I use to use PORTMON to monitor my serial / USB ports. Problem is that PORTMON is not supported on Vista 64 or 7. I need to communicate to a serial device and monitor the data transmission at its binary level. Any one have any ideas on a substitute free program?

My school uses Realterm.

I use minicom on Linux.

Edit: Never mind, you want to monitor reads/writes.
