come ooon Nokia

Post by bad_brain »

just bought a new cellphone, it's a brand new model and middle priced (150 Euro), but the USB cable that came with it is really hilarious...seems Nokia really have to save even the last possible Cent... :lol:

Looks like a USB 2.0 A MALE to MINI 5 MALE. These are becoming real popular here in the states. I even designed my last circuit and PCB with one. Your cable looks short however.

Here is a link for a longer cable.

I feel bad - they ripped you off. I got two cables for that

the three foot one is for the old V3 motorola phone and another is used for the HP 735 camera (2feet)

ok pissed off my wife a bit there "What are you looking for!?" She'll tell you how much trouble it was to find this.

But I found the 2 foot cable -its yours. The cables are universal - so I'll use the 3 footer for the camera.

I am putting together a little something to send you

this is one of a couple of badges I saved from rubicon

Image

I should send it out this weekend

reedit: oh - don't know how the dragon got in the pic :lol: don't worry - I'm not sending it - US postal regulations you know... Not sure on the regs for the butterfly knife but I'll pack that - I have too many knives.

well, seems this is a Nokia-specific cable (surprise, surprise :roll: )...

the left and middle ones are familiar, but I have never seen one as the right (Nokia) one before:

but well, I can still use a simple extension cable... :)

I believe it's a micro USB, my phone has the same connector and I have a Seagate TB that uses one as well.

ah I see - the wifes phone uses the flatter and wider plug - and I dont have a usb to. The plug on the far left is a usb to printer cable, the middle one is the typical usb to device plug.

On the charger for that flat wide plug I got STA-U32WSI (LG phone) These are still kind of universal, so you might be able to get it without paying nokia prices.

Package will still be sent - minus the cable..

yep, you're right lilrofl, it's realy named "micro USB"...seems to be some kind of standard on cellphones nowadays, Motorola uses it too...so it's nothing Nokia-specific.

n3rd, it looks pretty much like HDMI, but it's way smaller, about 1/3 of the HDMI size...never seen such a plug before....maybe because all my former phones were cheap crap.... :lol:

This is just another reason I don't own a cell phone. I hate them.

Fellas that is what I mentioned in my post or is it different? Oh well no one listens to me anymore. :? I want to state that USB standard specificys only 3 types of connectors well 5 total but A and B. So with reasonable deduction logic one would conclude its as I posted.

Check my link if you want a longer one :wink:

@Floody

micro USB connector is a bit different then the mini... it looks like a shrunken HDMI cable.

Found a cool pic to illustrate =)

@z3r0aCc3Ss
it's a Nokia 6303 Classic (in black, of course):
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6303_clas ... ew-359.php

except for the cable (ok, simply using a regular USB extension now) I am really satisfied with it, my main focus was on the email functionality...in the meantime I have set everything up so once the suck-o server is going down I get an email notification to the cellphone which starts to play "Fast Food Fister" by The Meatmen as ringtone... :lol:
