Do you think it's right that carriers removed the portable wifi hotspot option?

easytether, zte alter code

Post by windroid »

I recently switched over to the new cricket service after it was bought out by at&t and got a new ZTE smart phone to match. One issue here, they have removed the portable wi-fi hotspot option in the new phone/service which I was using before the switch to connect my devices to the internet. I downloaded easytether lite which connects my devices to the internet through my phone which works but it's limited(i'm on a proxy now to be able access the suck-o https forums). Easytether is great and everything but it won't load https on sites like youtube, google, facebook, twitter and most likely a whole lot of other sites that I regularly use. As I mentioned I use a proxy to load some sites on easytether lite but it's pretty harsh for example I can load a youtube page but it says the video is unavailable.
1. is there freeware for the easytether full?
2. What is a better way to connect my laptop to the internet through my phone?
3. Can I alter easytether lite code to make it load sites?
4. Can I alter code on my new phone ZTE to add the portable wifi hotspot option and will it work or is my carrier service gonna block it?
