BASIC compiler?

Post by ebrizzlez »

Would anyone know of a good free BASIC compiler or IDE? Because I wanted to learn game programming, my friend recommended BASIC. I know BASIC is a bit noobish, but it beats all the varibles and functions needed in C++ to do the same operation as BASIC would do. 8O I bought a book and it uses a demo version of Blitz Plus, which cost $60 to get the full version.... I tried to see if you could "activate" it , but I found nothing. So I have about 10 more days till the trial is up, and I need to buy it, or get a free BASIC compiler. I heard DarkBASIC was good too, but i am trying to avoid spending money. I googled this up, and all I got was Just BASIC, which creates a .tkn file (tokenized file) which is useless if I would like to give out my game to my friends! Would anyone know of any good free BASIC compilers or IDEs? Thanks. 8)

I guess luck isn't on my side today! 8O I checked again on Google, about an hour or so. And all I got was results like a DOS compiler for QBASIC not BASIC. I also got a bunch of source codes for nothingness. And piles of junk. (I even got a FREE backdoor virus when downloading a compiler. ) I guess google doesn't like me for some reason today. Would there be any recommendations?

Jontebullen, FreeBasic was the DOS Ms-QuickBasic like compiler I downloaded and seems to never work correctly, to bug prone. And is Visual Basic really a BASIC compiler such as DarkBASIC ? Thanks for the help guys.
