for like passwords and stuff like that. someone told me to get the source code to a website then search for the password or use brutus to find it

Open IE or Firefox and click View>Source Code to get a websites source. As for the brute forcer, you may need a wordlist. Get them here:

btw. Whoever told you that is wrong. Brutus just guesses a bunch of possible passwords defined in the wordlist. It doesnt find anything! And you dont need a sites source for that

Well if it guesses the correct password you usually say that it "found" it...
