You need to be a bit more specific.

what is the reason you want dedicated hosting?

IE: start your own streaming server, or your own hosting company. etc

yep! what services you plan to use? for example http, IRC, ftp....
how much space and traffic you need, do you plan to use it only for yourself or do you want to act also as reseller, etc...
there are so many forms of hosting available...from simple webspace to fully dedicated servers, it's impossible to give you an advice without details...

This is advanced stuff for your first run at it. Maybe a website first and go from there. Just consider the price and time it will take, unless you pay someone to set it up for you it will take you awhile to figure out.

My suggestion? http://www.howtoforge.com

Hands down the best linux server specific, tutorial site, I have come across. There is some really great stuff on there - and I suggest if you start to read those tutorials and research some concepts futher, you can get a pretty decent understanding of a web server, quickly.

There is your first problem. BURN IT!

Actually, I wouldn't mind some legit. IIS experience - if you know how to use IRC come visit irc.suck-o.com / #suck-o and I can help you further.
