A suggestion.
I've been thinking of ways to get activity up within suck-o and I've thought of the following idea.
Why don't we create some video tutorials related to various hacking topics, how to use various tools..etc and then smack the suck-o name all over the tutorial videos. Then, we simply release the videos on youtube and wait for people to start flooding the boards, and asking questions. In the long run, we may get some good long term members but at the same time it would create some work for the mods with all the nubs.
Anyway, it's just a suggestion, thoughts?

Information is free, and as long as we don't create videos of anything incriminating we are in perfect legal means to do anything as we wish. I can sit here, and hack away at any of my boxes legally - if you say I can hack your box, then I can hack your box legally. Hacking is simply 'unauthorized access' to a network, if you are authorized or are permitted on the network then you can access it via whatever means you wish.
And flood, family and work comes first, by any means. There is no hurry for it, but a couple well produced videos should get the suck-o name out there.

homicide is pretty illegal but you can also see it in almost any movie.....so no need to be worried about legal issues (as long as it is not showing a live hack of the MS servers...but well, even then I would love to host it ).
so go ahead gentlemen....I am still damn busy with a customer's site, but it will be done latest in a week (finally!!), then I will come up with some Linux-related vids....

the video generation will be weak
I might be old school. I rather have a written document with illustrations.
It is just easier to stop and go back over something. In a video, trying to explain something while you are doing it will be too late, too little. I think the video generation will be a bunch of wanna-bes that just want to learn something in 3 to 8 minutes. They'll be addicted to flashy graphics with little substance, their brains will be weak because they all they did was watch something, but not really processed it in the head - to actually put it together of how something works. They'll just copy a video, monkey see, monkey do "Why did you do that?" "I donno, I just seen someone do that on utube"
I do like the idea of spreading the word about suck-o. When I look at other hacker clubs and forums, I see their public profile in hackercons or in the news. A news article might discuss a computer or network issue, and refer to a tut or software created by a group.
You can generate traffic the same way as you proposed, stamp our logo on every tut, rant, or software we make here. I further suggest we plant webbugs on good tuts and software to kind of do a market survey

I don't agree with that per-say DNR.
There are different learning style. While you may learn textually, other people may learn visually. Perhaps someone is dyslexic and therefore is unable to comprehend textual tutorials. I have a cousin who suffers from dyslexia, other than not being able to read without great difficulty he is a rather smart kid. I've taught him numerous things when I have had to time, and he catches on really quickly, visually. He knows how, and why - if I explain. It's just that he cant read, that holds him back. Put him under the hood of a car, he can take it apart and have it together again before you know what has happened. It how he is FORCED to learn, not how he wants to learn. Maybe statistically, it's not the best way but it's the only way he is able.
I am actually not sure the exact reason behind his difficulty reading, but I know he has seen numerous specialists and is not at all lazy at trying to learn, his brain just doesn't comprehend.
Anyway, that is a bit of a tangent.
Really, I was just trying to explain various learning methods and a proportional amount of institutions teach visually now, opposed to teaching from the old textbook. It's the way we as a human society has directed our teaching and learning methodologies.
Personally, I can learn a lot from an educational video opposed to a text - not because I am too lazy to learn but I also, learn better from visual capacities. However, I still am able to read a text and comprehend everything within, it's just that I choose visual learning as it's quicker and if there where more in depth and factual tutorials out there relating to hacking, I would definitely watch them. Most of them, or so I have seen, thus far are primarily skiddy tools.
Anyway, that's my 2cents in the matter. Take it for what it's worth.
