new security feature - byebye bots! ^^

Post by bad_brain »

I have added a script to the site today that blocks known spammers/harvesters/malicious crawlers/bots from the site. the script works with a database that is regularly updated, source of the script is http://www.bot-trap.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , so if anyone is interested in using that script too let me know and I'll guide you through the verification process, the script can't be simply downloaded:
- you have to show up on their forums and verify yourself as site owner, etc.
- if successful you'll get a unique ID that enables you to download the script

this is all to make sure the script is only handed to users that "deserve" it, and not to the wrong side. the site is in german, but I guess you can post in english too....but best contact me first and we'll do this together.

and here's what a blacklisted "user" will see:

yes, the BotTrap site runs a database of such IPs and user-agents which is regularly updated....so it's not only IP based.
I have tested it by setting a known bad user agent (winhttprequest) in the browser, and that triggered the script and caused the page output I posted... :)

Hmm... I just got the Web Spam filter once I tried to login regularly. :?

I tried it a couple of more times and it seems once I sign out of suck-o and try to request to goto the home page by typing "suck-o.com" I get the filter screen. b_b can you check if my IP is blocked specifically, or its just my web browser is giving off a bad request due to a browser plugin I have or so.

Ok, seems one of the IPs you are using is blacklisted, I posted on their boards asking to remove that IP from the blacklist, it's possible you maybe will have to show up there personally to verify yourself as "human"....more here when I got a reply....

update: I found out there is a "whitelist" function, I have added your 24.x.x.x IP-range and the range of DrVirus (he also was blocked) to the list, should work now...

just found out I am allowed to re-use the script for my own projects (sites), but I think sites hosted on my servers can be labeled as "my projects" too....so people running sites on my or Mab's servers feel free to contact me for the script....

that proves it, I always suspected you to be a bot...

well, I think it would be a little too strict to block tor users from a site that is about "hacking", so it should work now...

Well to be honest, that math equation could easily be picked up and solved by bots O_o but still, very good script to do away with a majority of spam bots :P
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...
