well.....like an idiot, i changed the video resolution from 1024 x 768 to 2048 x 1536 ( i thought that my video card does support that resolution) and now when i start counter - strike or half-life, the screen goes black and an error appears "Out of range
H : 30-70 khz
V: 50 - 160 khz
and it says : PC display settings correct?"
Please, man can you tell me what to do, because i tried reinstalling it twice, and it still doesn't work :(

hm, I don't have CS installed so I can't check, but look for inside the game-folders for a config-file (most likely .cfg), you can surely edit the settings there manually.....

right....i googled the problem a while, discovered the cfg. files of the game, but i don't have the slightest idea where to modify, because i didn't found anything about the screen resolution in those cfg. files. Can someone here teach me where to look and solve this problem? I hope i didn't break any rule by asking..

The screen modes may be held in an array, or something similar to where they're listed as simple mode numbers. Look for something that talks about "scrnres" or "screenres" or "resolution" where that =0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, etc.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

Ooh, smart. Reckless, but a very good idea. Congratz on getting the game working again.
