360 or the PS3
Im thinking about buying a next-gen console for the upcoming summer holidays (Wii is not an option as i hardly consider it next-gen) so like the title says, i want opinions from people who've had experience on either both or one of the consoles. At the moment im sliding *slightly* to the 360 side, although im a BIG fan of sony's consoles.

I don't think there is a big difference... except you gotta play for Xbox Live, which really sucks.
But yeah, I'd recommend you to scrap off the idea of getting a new console, and stick with PC. Just buy a gamepad (I recommend you Logitech Dual Action, if you do so) and the feel is the same as having a console. Only that when you play on a PC, you can alt tab and watch porn anytime, HOW COOL IS THAT!
Seriously... why bother buying a console?

Well I have a 360, and if you are going to buy one, then find someone to fix the firmware patch for you. Because games are expensive (if anyone feels the itch to point out that it's illegal and inappropriate to say in this forum, well in that case I was totally not pointing to something illegal, I pointed out something legal that I don't know what it is) ^^
I try out a lot of games, like GTA IV was kick ass, and I am waiting with excitement for Soul Calibur as well (favourite game series). And playing on Live is a bitch because I have to pay for it, but hey, it's worth it =)

No doubt, as far as hardware is concerned, ps3 has more powerful hardware than 360, but then respective games are optimized for their platform, personally i would consider ps3, but that's just me,
For the purists,
ps3 has an I/O bridge chip which is missing in 360, it controls Input/Output functions within the console, which includes usb 2.0 and memory card reader, (all types, mmc, micro sd, compact flash, memory stick/pro/duo etc)
Ps3 has RSX( Reality Synthesizer) chip which is responsible for graphics, its manufactured by Nvidia, with 550MHZ speed and is part of 7800 gpu family, the graphics processor can crunch pixels from 480i/576i SD up to 1080p HD
ps3 has a cell processor, developed by IBM and runs at speeds over 4.5GHz, and has NINE cores! i wanted to write more but it would be hard to stop me then.
ps2 has 256 mb of XDR ram and 256 mb of GDDR3 video memory for RSX, this has advantage over 360, xbox has 512mb ram but its slower and is shared, which adds load on processor
lastly not to forget the blu ray drive

@ uner: LOL, yes i do use my computer for gaming and it is Very POWERFUL. But there are two things concerning me, firstly is that many of my favorite games such as FFXIII, God of war 3, Kingdom Hearts 3 etc. are all going to be released for ps3 (and surprisingly the 360 also). So point taken, a powerful pc is Awesome when it comes to playing games, but not all games at that..
@cats: This is one of the main reasons why i was leaning towards the 360, it can actually be hacked! (and im learning about how to do it myself) but not the same goes for ps3. Also i've been seeing that the XB 360 has a much larger library of games than the Ps3..
@Pseudo_opcode: Firstly, very good points you made there, the ps3 is one powerful beast, but producers don't seem to recognize that, and i blame this on Sony itself. They didn't release the ps3 early enough, therefore giving the spotlight to the 360 for many months which made gamers who were eager to try out Next-gen consoles to go to the shops and buy one, the problem is that all they did find were 360's. This is why 360 sales are three times more than ps3 right now...
Anyway, im getting a bit off topic here, thanks for all suggestion! i appreciate them.

I strongly agree there. Like I said, I'm waiting for Soul Caliber 4, which simply can't be played on a PC, even it existed for PC's I would get the console version, it has a special feeling to it ^^d3athlig3r wrote:a powerful pc is Awesome when it comes to playing games, but not all games at that..

@ Cats: Soul Caliber 4 will definitely kick ass, it's one of my most anticipated games, and would love to play it when it first comes out. Maybe that "special feeling" is enjoying the game on a high-end, 1080p, 50-inch, plasma TV with surround sound
@ itzm3: Nice idea, I've created a poll for those who'd like to vote...

Yeah... If you still haven't made your choice yet or bought any of both
i would recommend the 360. First because i think its a bad idea to put games on a blu ray, as it is slow as shit. Second because xbox live is a billion times better than ps3 online and it's only 50 bucks a year so i don't really care it's not free.Third, playing a Shotty Snipers on The Pit is as good as jerking off on your PC Really i don't know if you love fps but Halo 3 is massive. I suggest you give it a try.
(Note... Yes it is only my opinion, its coming out of my damn mouth! so i hope you dont get offended with not putting "imo" everywhere out in my post)

Thanks for your suggestion ulysse, you've made some pretty important points there (and no, i haven't bought any console yet)
Well, the ps3 has 0 votes while the xbox has 6
btw: Yer im a big fan of halo, played both 1 & 2 and everyone says 3 just dominates it.

7 votes for the 360, but, thats just for now, ps3 is coming out with updates for their online capabilities, and xboxlive sucks balls, so ps3 will be better than 360 at that, but the only reason i think 360 is better is because of the exclusive games like gow

GOW 1 still rocked, i finished it almost 6 times over , and from what i've seen, GOW 2 seems 20 times better That doesn't mean someone needs to get an xbox though, i got a kick ass system that can run it smoothly, but the extra wait for pc release is tempting
