ISSUE RESOLVED
i just ended up reformating, and re-installing xp yada yada yada
this seemed to be the most appropriate place to post this, anyways, here i go.
i recently defragged my entire pc 3 times in total with JkDefrag and after the defragmenting i found that team fortress 2 was starting up and connecting extremely slowly, also steam(the program which launches tf2)said that the tf2 game files were 12% fragmented. so i went ahead and defragmented the tf2 game files and when i ran the game again, i got as far as the introductory cinematic and when i skipped it or it finished, the blue screen flashed for a split second and my computer reset.
please help.
EDIT: not a problem with the hardware, they are well over the recommended requirements and i ran tf2 again with no unnecessary programs open and got the same results
team fortress 2 crashing

Well, tbh I have no clue. So all I can do for you is to give you THIS link =PGrombo wrote:no one has a clue as to what my problem may be?
"The best place to hide a tree, is in a forest"
i dont see how that makes a difference, tf2 and source games on steam are the only programs which have a problem. They all ran fine with the drivers i have now, why would installing new ones make a difference?
ill try anyways
EDIT: exact same outcome with latest gfx drivers, what other drivers wld i need to update?
