mirrors edge, freezing

so i got mirrors edge yesterday, and it was running fine untill a little chapter called new eden (chapter 6)

consistently, after a couple minutes of playing it, it freezes completely, my whole pc, i cant alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete or alt-f4 or anything like that, the sound plays for a few seconds then theres no sound, i leave it for ages and nothing happens so im forced to shut my pc down.

then when i log back in, i have to "restore my active desktop" but that button doesnt work, i have to choose a different wallpaper and choose the one i want again

im running windows xp pro, core 2 duo e6750 2.67ghz, 8800gt 512mb, 2gb RAM.

please help

issue resolved, i disbled PhysX and i have now beaten the game
