So, I don't know how many of you read Reddit on a (semi)regularly basis. Just found this. It's still in development and can be viewed at his github site here:

The basic idea is that all the coding is done before game play where agents (aka "cells") fight like a tribe over resources and against another team. It's all simulated so its not much of a game in the traditional sense. The author has a better explanation than I.
