Suck-o Distro

Post by maboroshi »

I have decided to take on the arduous task of building a Suck-o Linux Distro and I would like to know what security/pen testing/forensics/hacking/ etc tools you would like and really any tools the community would like :D

it will be based off of Ubuntu 11.04 which is basically an updated Debian :D

Let me know

*cheers

Damn, I was planning that when I finally learn to code xD

For the tools, let's start with a traffic sniffing program, shall we :D
Wireshark perhaps?

Also it would be good to make it lightweight I think, the less programs the betters imo.

Airecrack suite would be a good addition to the distro.

Go for light weight. Get rid of Compiz and Unity. I'd like to be able to choose between Windows Managers (Gnome, Openbox, XFCE etc). Aircrack, nmap (with zenmap), Wireshark, Nessus, Kismet, and Metasploit should come default.

Edit * The distrubution system I was using failed. Will be switching to an LFS system

Have to get new hardware but I have a package list now. Slower progress than I expected but I think a LFS system is the best way to go :D

I have sat here with LFS or over 2 years now, one of them projets that I will get round to in the future

I need to dedicate so many hours a week to a project and stick ith it. If only life was so simple.

This is just an idea...the tools that your are going to have on this distro, you can setup a file with all the manuals for them...so that in a way if anyone begins to use it,they would have the manuals to learn from and thus actually learn something....and one or two of the best Suck-o tuts about shell scripting and the like.....so that not only would the person have the manuals for the tools but also tutorials on how to use the command line and it may foster an environment for learning...just a thought..

Heres my favourite tools

-Gimp (lots of manuals for this ... and free)
-Wireshark
-Firefox
-Opera
-Vim
-Emac
-Gedit
-Truecrypt
-Bleachbit
-Lynx - text based webbrowser
-Hexeditor
-VLC
I can use all the shells,so now I can finally hear the ocean
