Fedora problem

Post by Macross »

Ok my friend asked me to install linux on his computer and now we have unexpected problem. When linux starts booting and goes to graphic mode his monitor tells that we have to change graphic display mode to 1024x768 and 60 Hz.But at the monitor settings there is no graphic display mode settings.Any ideas?

Monitor type: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/36701/ph ... 150p4.html

Maybe some1 have this montior too?

you have to change the screen resolution (frequency) in Linux, NOT on the monitor....TFT screens need a frequency of 60Hz.....

Which xserver are you running? Xorg or Xfree86?
For Xorg follow this(from console only) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=83973
Note:When your screen is black.. press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to command line...

For Xfree86: http://mandrivausers.org/lofiversion/in ... /t576.html (not the best link..but still its more or less like xorg)

Possible solutions:

1) add the boot parameters acpi=off noapic

2) Try booting in text mode only. Most of the time the normal system will work only the booting crashs.

Hope this works.
