I usually read lots of pdf files which are pretty big (some up to 400 pages) with lots of colorful pictures and such.
It works in windows but scrolling can be a bit slow sometimes.
I wanted to read pdf files in Ubuntu but whatever program linux is using to read pdf files is extremely slow. I cant scroll at all and it almost freezes my computer. The program itself doesn't look appealing to the eye.
Any ideas on why this happens? Should i be using a different program?

Adobe Reader for Linux
Fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face.
I never liked Adobe's PDF reader for the same reasons. I'd suggest Foxit Reader. I'm pretty sure Foxit has a Linux version.
Edit: There's a test version of Foxit. I'd suggest you go with G-Brain's suggestion.

Ok. So i got xpdf (apt-get install xpdf - easy enought
Its much better then whatever it was before. I am not sure how to see what was i using before but it came preinstalled with Ubuntu 8.4.
Xpdf works fine, however adobe reader on windows still changes pages faster.
I will try out some other programs and see if anything is better. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Another question. You know when you do "Open with..." in Windows and then select the program and check the box that says "Always use this program to open this type of file blah blah blah". How do i do smth like that in Ubuntu Linux. Because right now i just right click the pdf file and select "Open with xpdf"
