Two different wine? =/
Two different wine? =/
I noticed something very odd with Wine yesterday....
If I start Battlefield 2 from "wine" in the right click menu, I get an error from the game. But If I use "Wine Windows Program Loader" from the same menu, it loads without any errors."
And if I load the game through bash with "wine game.exe" it gives me the same error.
What is the difference? or more exactly, where can I see what commands the right click menu issues with the different wines?

ah! thank you!rob33n wrote:if you write wine game.exe your wine try to open without any opengl options.
but in menu it's like that: wine game.exe -opengl ... or automaticly gives a argument for game options.
solved a lot of question marks
EDIT:
hmm, *bump*, it's odd though .... when I try to start a game with just writing wine FEAR.exe -gl -gldrv Default
or something, I get an error just like when I try without -gl -gldrv .... but with using the "long version" of the right click option, works T_T, so what is the difference? =/

for fear game, just write wine fear.exe

Yeah I know....but BEFORE I used to get "unable to initialize client engine" when I used "wine fear.exe", and when I used the right click option it worked. But for some seriously fudged up reason it works now.rob33n wrote:for fear game, just write wine fear.exe

Anyway, can't I check the right click command somewhere? I mean the option that it uses is stored somewhere, I just need to find it =/

why not dual boot if it is 10x better instead of having to use wine?cats wrote:I don't like Windows, and since I can play in Linux, then what's the point? ^^itzm3 wrote:Save a bunch of time and just dual boot w/ win and linux =)
@visser: check the Linux gaming thread (it's stickied so not hard to find)
does daul boot cause more vuln in your system?
I am testiig out the super grub menu thingy B-B suggested but it des not seem to be working, i think it maybe a user error
itzm3: Because I can live with not getting to use full graphics in every game. Besides, the games I play are so old, so that I can use full graphics anyway when using wine. And the issue is still the same, I don't want Windows!
Oh and remember, wine is not an emulator (just thought id point that out)
