I tried restarting hal (hah!!) Now my battery is no longer present. When I
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT*/*
alarm: unsupported

design capacity: 50200 mWh
last full capacity: 52780 mWh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 10950 mV
design capacity warning: 250 mWh
design capacity low: 100 mWh
capacity granularity 1: 10 mWh
capacity granularity 2: 10 mWh
model number: ASMB016
serial number:
battery type: LION016
OEM info: DPON016
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: charged
present rate: 0 mW
remaining capacity: 52750 mWh
present voltage: 12549 mV
everything seems ok. Just no icon in the sys tray....

what is the output for:

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/acpid start
if it is already running use "restart"....I just want to see if you get an output that points to missing modules.. :-k

Did you try restarting? or even just logging out and then back in? That should start the power-app in the taskbar, if the only problem is it not being present ^^
