Sharing folder in VirtualBox

Post by ph0bYx »

Hey guys! I've installed Virtual Box on my Ubuntu 8.10 box and Windows XP SP2 on the virtual machine. Now, I don't know how to setup a sharing folder. I have searched with Google around and found a tutorial. I did Setting > Shared Folders > Add folder, and I did try to establish a network in WinXP to get to the sharing folder: Explorer > right click on My Network Places > Map Network Drive > Browse. In the tutorial that I was following there should be a sharing folder on the end of the list in that window, but there isn't one.

Here's the tutorial that I've followed (second video is where the problem is):

Code: Select all

Did you enable file-sharing?

control panel -> network connections -> properties of "local area connection" (presumably)

if you see "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks", enable it. otherwise click install -> service and choose it.

I guess you can use the horror/wizard as well.
