Ok now the last pre Linux Question ^^.

I want to install Windows First. At the Instalation i create 4 disks

c: 130GB NTFS = Windows
d:30GB FAT32 = Datachange
e:30GB Fat 32 = Datachange
f: 100GB Linux

But with which should i format the Linux partition ? Or should i just left 100GB unpartitionaed space ?

ummm...why 2 data exchange partitions? you only need one FAT-partition, both Linux and XP can access it. the format of the partition on which you want to install Linux is not really important, Linux will create its own file format anyway. here´s what I would recommend:
C:/ 100GB NTFS for XP system
D:/ 100GB NTFS for XP storage //keep a XP system backup here
E:/ 30GB FAT32 for file swapping between XP and Linux
F:/ 70GB NTFS for Linux //because of the unique size you can easily identify the partition when installing Linux (the partitions are named different in Linux)

well, I got mine off a computer mag CD, just look around a bit. but it´s surely possible to "buy" it, you can dl a testversion on the manufacturer´s site. I looked at sourceforge for a opensource backup app but only found Linux ones... but well, if all fails there is another possibility, check your PM for details...

Ok Linux,Windows, and Grup is running. :D

Now I'm working on installing the XGL and the ATI drivers.

What about:

Code: Select all

 # cp /dev/hda2 /dev/hda3
to backup Linux on a second partition?

Oh and Bad_Brain what do u use to backup windows with trueimage?
Clone the howl partition?
Clone your hard drive to a new one
or sould I
Disaster OS recovery to a new hard drive

ummm...is there an option to restore the Linux backup?

and well, I backuped the XP partition only, but my XP partition is a whole HDD. when you don´t have a second HDD it´s best is to backup the system partition only, not the whole physical HDD....
