Why the hell is it so difficult to download something from the internet now. The last time I was out and trying to learn it was simple to download programs. Now all I want is hexdexchareditor. But no, every time I click on a download I go to another site. Or am asked to pay for it. What the F**k is up with having to pay for it all of a sudden.
yea the internet has changed a lot. Its all click-thrus, scams, malware, porn, and maybe - the file you need.
Keep trying, and keep a list of the good sites for yourself.

It use to be a lot different! Everything was free. Now it's like everyone is trying to get rich off information that should be free. I'm real big on information being free. If a site were to ask for a donation I would willingly donate $10 - 20 dollars before I pay $1 for information. As soon as I'm able I plan on donation some money to suck-o.
Charging people isn't the only thing that has changed. I find myself at a total loss most moments when trying to use the things I once knew. I'm at a total fresh start; it sucks. You know what that means: I'll be asking this group a LOT of questions. Programs I use to use are now out dated and no longer around. I have to learn all new programs. CRAP.

Look - the biggest change that happened in middle 1990's. The federal laws got involved in hacking - Federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (as well as other hidden laws enacted by State and local gov.) The FCFA makes it a 5 year Felony to 'unauthorized access to a computer or network' - this has been applied to wardriving, people that peeked at a misconfigured server, and school kids playing on a elementry school network.
The Federal laws are "Catch-all" speaking in broad sense, hidding terrible rules in paper-pusher-speak.
"knowingly causes the transmission of a program, information, code, or command, and as a result of such conduct, intentionally causes damage without authorization, to a protected computer;
intentionally accesses a protected computer without authorization, and as a result of such conduct, recklessly causes damage; or
intentionally accesses a protected computer without authorization, and as a result of such conduct, causes damage;
knowingly and with intent to defraud traffics (as defined in section 1029) in any password or similar information through which a computer may be accessed without authorization,"
BTW, those rules have been UPDATED - now - even if you cause NO damage - those rules STILL apply to YOU!
Back in the 1980's and prior to the enactment of Computer Crimes laws, yea - you can scan servers, break in, read everything they have, leave a little 'thank you note' - and nobody could touch you. They had no clue, but since dumbassholes from AOL and and cheap companies that couldn't hire a real IT tech to setup their networks kept getting robbed and raped online - they got enough cops and senators involved. Now, if you light up some sysadmin's logs with a vuln scan - they call the cops on you! In my area it could be the State police, the sheriff dept, or even the Feebs.
Whats left? There are still lots of private networks attached to the internet, there are other domains to go to - like http://www.robtex.com/dns/bali.ge.html
Something waaay of shore, and with little or no friendly relations between our country and theirs.
Still your ISP can turn you in if they detect 'suspicious activity' - sometimes they are obligated to do so. Back in the old days you picked a expensive ISP that looked the otherway or just go find another cheap ISP when you got kicked out for violating TOS.
So back to wardriving.. I guess the first thing you want to brush up on is "How to evade detection" - That will mean not just your Internet connection, but also your computer. If you are on supervised parole - I suppose your computer can be seized at any time. It is also just good network housekeeping to only have your OS on the computer, and the data, like music, software -stored elsewhere, on disk, USB or external HDD.
