hotmail is hilarious

Post by bad_brain »

needed a hotmail account to use MSN, and I was slightly surprised about how long it took until I got my first spam mail into my inbox: 2 minutes after registering.

on hotmail you mean? luckily I don't use the account anyway, for me it was just a hint that hotmail gives away user data.....but well, actually that's not really a surprise, isn't it?

on my own servers I also get almost no spam at all, thanks to greylisting... :D

naah I don't use hotmail.
And I don't use greylisting, it's just that I tend to create a lot of new addresses, use them for some crap and then remove them again so that the spam will bounce xD

I have one 'official' address, but I only use it for very serious biz, like suck-o :p

well, I used my main address for a long time without any protection, in the end I got 100 spam mails a day and more... #-o
with greylisting it went down to maybe 5 a week...and ok, I use some RBLs too. all that complicated and resource hungry spam filtering via spamassassin etc. is pointless when you can reach such good results with greylisting (which is very lightweight).
