for those who didn't knew yet: truecrypt is dead, it's labeled as insecure (even by the former developers) and the project is abandoned.

it is recommended to switch to bitlocker instead, there's a quick howto for that:

Well, the developers didn't say that there was cryptographic compromise, just that if some was discovered there would not be a fix.

They also said they would not support a fork, but since there was a code audit I'm sure there will be one.

I am not against BitLocker, but since its proprietary, I have some trust reservations like I have with most of Microsoft's products. You just never know when they are going to start charging you per use, or selling the keys to a hidden BitLocker backdoor to uncle reamus... mind that I'm a bit hung over so I might feel a tad less paranoid about the big brother watching me after I get a little water in me
