Oh wow, that's what version of Windows? Win98? I got Win98 running in a VM a few years ago because I wanted to play an old game I had played on my parent's WIn95 Compaq machine :P It ran well in virtualbox, and I even found a driver that provided modern screen resolutions for the Win98 VM. I was trying to run an old game called StoneKeep, and the game ran fine, but... it handled the mouse cursor poorly. It implemented the mouse cursor in software by constantly moving the system cursor to the center of the screen and calculating the x,y deltas (how far it had to move the mouse back to the center of the screen), then using those to move the in-game cursor. Or something to that effect. It didn't work in the VM though, it wouldn't detect my mouse movements. Maybe I'll try it in DosBox :-k

Oh, and if you're interested in the game, it's available for free now from archive.org.
Here's another download link, looks like this one is set up for DosBox already. Also has a screenshot https://archive.org/details/msdos_Stonekeep_1995
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

hmmm...I am not 100% sure which OS, but I remember I used it for a long time, so it must be either 2000 or pre-SP1 XP... :-k

Stonekeep rings a bell, but I don't think I ever really played it.... :-k but damn you, now I am hot for playing some retro games...
might get a C64 emulator and play some of my favorites of my youth again, like:

 How goes the retro gaming, b_b?

Those games are a bit before my time, but Paradroid sounds vaguely familiar...

oooo I love Stardew! There's a new one coming soon called "Coral Island". Basically a Stardew clone but looks pretty promising : D
