Calculus...
SUCKS
1 high school semester to learn 2 semesters worth of college material.
And I am swamped with home work I actually laid out today to catch up.
Truthfully the work is not that bad but their is soo much of it to do..
Ok, sorry done ranting

???
haha you must not of taken it in high school
dont get me wrong glad to get it out of the way but like opcode said it takes up so much time plus i way behind like missing a good 5 or 6 assinments....
luckly i dont have to deal with probablity
just got done with limits and now working on deriv. and taking up half a page or so cleaning up the fnct.
and eventually calculus turns into nothing but symbols

Hehe. Be glad that you're getting used to it in Highschool. I'm taking it in my Freshman year of college and it's got me scratching my head. I wasn't fortunate enough to get exposed to it highschool because if you go into anything related to computes in college, you'll have to go through Calculus IV and maybe even a bit more.
I only went through College level Algebra and Trigonometry in Highschool.
We also just got through with limits (2 weeks worth of discussion: Tuesdays and Thursdays) and we started Derivative and Tangent line functions (I think that's what it's called.)

and i've been studyinc calculus since past 4 years, its interesting how it can be applied to real life but it aint much useful for computers, we would rather rely on our experience to solve a problem rather than taking paper and pen and calculate it, honestly i havent applied calculus to real world problem yet, but maybe coz i m not into directX and openGL programming, or game engine programming.... pheww...
and probability? i dont give a damn about anyone throwing a dice or tossing a coin, just look at how things have been exaggerated, binomial distribution, bernoulli's distribution, continuos, discrete random variables...

Stravos
Haha yep ypu've got it right its pretty easy your gonna hate you prof./teacher when they show you the short cut for derivative
its not that derivative is hard its just that the Difference Quotiant is annoying after a while.
p99.
haha yeah i dont care to much for math either but i need it to majr in computer science so id try to get calc 1 and 2 out of the way in high school hopefully i can pass the AP and BC tests. And yeah algerbra2 sucks espically when you have a teacher that can not teach lol. And it sucks now because i can do most algerbra problems in my head
alien100
haha yes i know my teacher showed the my class one of her problems she had to do in college and it was mostly greek symbols.
Oh and starvos since we are at about the same chapter maybe i could help you if you get stuck feel free to ask.

Whoa, if you consider THAT calculus, then we're waay ahead of you. That's freshman math in my high school here...alien100 wrote:Calculus came from us the Greeks

That's slope intercept form, isn't it?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...
Simple algebra. Slope-intercept.
Only major Greek mathematician I can think of is Archimedes.
Tuesday we get to do the easy way for Deriviative. If we hadn't had to go to the computer lab to learn how to use a calculus program calle Derive. Also, it's the DOS version, so it's a complete bitch to figure out.

-Sure, I'd like some help. Although this weekend all I want to do is be lazy and finish my programming homework.

If you need help in math, try to get Maple: http://www.maplesoft.com/ . It will certainly help you to get to the answer

haha yeah a DOS calculus program just sounds like it sucks.
And i understand the lazy part i haven't even looked at my calc. book and I'm behind. I have a friend that has all her work from last year though so I plan on copying that tonight
