Have you learned anything?

Post by floodhound2 »

I was curious as to what any of you have gained form this site "suck-o?"

I can start by admitting I have learned to make a full blown website and hack them like in war games “I have beat all of them” pats self on back! \:D/

I have gained mammoth patients for noobs that keep asking “how do I hack”?

I gained a valuable resource for asking question and getting pointed in the right direction without being spamed with ads

I feel it keeps my skills sharp and yet makes me investigate more and areas I am not familiar with

All the regulars are unique and genuine people that make the broad experience of the suck-o community ROCK!

These are just a few for me how about you?

All right, *who* pays and how much are you payed for posting this.

What i learned is that the younger ones are full of talent and the concentration of young talents on this board is amazing.
I am an ninja from the post-punk generation that knows other kung-fu and i have read postings here that put my "Ki" out of balance like "Woah! Do they know that already at that age !!".
I have read people here that actually re-learned me to *think* different, mostly in a more modern way .. and in a more violent way : violent code, awesome tricks that would have been credited to ruthless criminals in my 'older' reality but seem to be normal in the suck-o generation. It was hard to admit that. ( i had my days here when i was like "all damn those script-kiddies here!", until i noticed some are genuine internet *wildlife* with 1001 ressources or enlightened computer fauna that lives on raw talent.
While i was deepening myself for years in the fine art of eccletic agressive-proof computing with and for people who search, develop and teach with a peculiar taste for the abstract, like me, it was hard to realise that the digital world had become so cruel, mean, ungrateful and unsafe so quickly. ( Except for SUENET, on which i did things for which i could be in jail right now )

So, I admire those young ones here that survive, learn how to defend themselves and fight back, and build up a knowledge that often starts from scratch. (I don't think i would have made it in the vaste world of computers, being a teenager nowadays )

On the other part, i have seen that some are really lazy, not dumb, but a bit lazy. They will get at it later on.
Some are show-offs, some are too shy, some are on the wrong dimension of it but this board is .. really how it entitles itself : "mind over matter" . and that is why i feel comfortable here also.
Many contributors here just kept my imagination alive and many of them made me reconsider what i took for granted.

And now i am gonna sit down, cry and sing a hippie song :-)

ummm...floodhound, please PM me your bank data again so I can transfer the 10 bucks...
nah, just kidding, I'm really happy to see people like this little site, and I have to say I'm proud too...especially when I see that people from all over the globe meet here...for me that's the main purpose of the internet (yeah, there's more on the net than free porn.... ).
and I also have learned a LOT, on one side I have to check stuff out to be able to answer questions on the boards and on the other side I had to learn a lot about server-related issues to keep the site away from being compromised....and not to forget the "conversation training", for example when I've almost been sued for "distributing viruses"...I learned to stay calm even when people try to set me under pressure.

so thanks to all users...:D

What have i learned?

I suppose a better phrase would be what have i gained. Well, I say this with no measure of exaggeration, some very good friends, whom I have the great pleasure of speaking to regularly on MSN.

I have my own website now, with a great deal of support from BB and PO, and have now began to actively sutdy C++ and HTMl as wel as other odds and ends of computing.

The site has given me confidence, and has inspired me to join a whole group of friends BB you know who I mean

Ive been able to show my personality and never once felt embrrased or an idiot, and so many philosphers talk of the pursuit of knowledge and how it equates to happiness...well that is most certainly true.

I have matured with the site, seriously, I have learned the value of patience and tolerance, esp. when I am such a toy lol.

LBG, a most wonderful and delightful creature has rekindled one of my great passions, literature and in part of her I am revising my old Latin notes and my great pleasure may I add.

In short a fantastic site, and one that I derive much pleasure from and which I feel honoured and priviliged to be privy to. Hail Kinsman! :P
To the wicked, I am merely too knowledgeable in their ways.

Yep... girls can do that... Just playin' around.

Anyway, i've been with suck-o for a couple years now, and i started out as a mild script kiddie here, and the first person to reply to my first post was Circuitb0mb, and it was a flame too, lol. However, i think that post seriously knocked some common sense into me, and appreciate even that.

Along with the move from "mild script kiddie" to i guess "hacker," came rushes of knowlege. I've gained a lot of information here on computer hardware fairly recently, along with a lot of information about programming, etc.

I especially liked the idea of the wargames, that really made me come out and be clever, trying to figure out how to simulate a real hack, and to get everyone involved "into" the game. And according the floodhound, it worked. :D (poor guy)

And i have to say, anyone that's been here a while HAS learned how to deal with those "how do i hack?"ers.

I think we have an awesome group of members, and administrators (mods too ;) ) that all make great decisions on when to enforce, and bend the rules.

Generally, out of all the technical communities that i've been to, suck-o wins.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

I think I came here as a mild script kiddie. I already had fun with netbus...bo etc... I wanted to be a dark black hat to hack everyone who pissed me off. I think I've become more mature when it comes to computer.

Now instead of breaking into a PC I prefer protect myself and everyone that seems to be vulnerable to something. I keep my reflex of testing the input on website for ' , ' or a = a', etc...

I've learned a lot from a forum communitie and expect to learn even more. And I can't say all this without saying THANKS to bad_brain with his fully load download section to try new stuff. Not only(HACK YAHOO,ICQ STUFF) I mean utilities and a lot of paper :D

On some levels, computers need abstract thinking.

If a topic here interests me, I start researching and asking questions.

Logical Analysis and Critical Thinking, for example.
I was out of practice but now I've regained what I allowed to become dormant.

I'm not here because I'm a hacker or script kiddie.
So I can't really quantify what I've learned.

But suck-o was like the gateway to start really *thinking* again, as it were.

I've made many new friends, which are always invaluable.

I'm happy I could re-inspire you, just like suck-o did for me :)

Look, I am going to have to request to have this post removed due to Delinquent payments from the site owner and its investors.

I was promised as I understood it to be: “that I would be receiving legal tender by the truck load for starting this thread.”

This has not been the case! I linger daily in an outraged, discontent, and irregular posture waiting for my dues. Thus said, and furthermore if I do not receive compassion and legitimate grounds for the delinquent behavior I will have no choice but to accept the outcome!

LMAO ~

I kid!!!!
