my fave music

Post by computathug »

One of my personal favourites is driving for miles over cross country terrain and listening to some of my own favourite tunes while the windows are down and the sun blairing. I also think that we chose some tunes which mean something to us and from where they sing or make us feel about our own personal experiences. We can always remember the year or what we were doing when a certain record comes on from when it was released.

Now i have a very varied music selection, i wouldn't be able to say that im one genre sided only but will say that indie will probably be always in my heart for life and the beggining of the rave scene were the best years of my life but ask me too name some of the tunes and erm i cant remember.

For this post im going to put this into to seperate subject categories
1) fave genre's
2) fave bands
3) songs that would best describe me

Its number 3 im interested in. Music for years has been a big part in properganda in the ways it can make us think the only good thing is the government dont control it....YET. Subliminal messages in music. hm i wonder if this is possibe? any way im going on a bit now so here's my selection:-

1) pop, classical, punk, hiphop and house, retro aka oldskool (too old for gabba these days=P)scar, indie, and a little bit of Country and Western.

2) U2, Simple Minds, Queen, The Eagles, NWA, Madness, The Who, The Jam, The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Big Audio Dynamite, LL Cool J, and many more but these are what i like to listen to on my own.

3) hm my records this is a good one to look at youself with in my opinion.
a) bohemian rhapsody - queen
b) ask me - the smiths
c) dont you forget about me - simple minds
d) life in the fast lane - the eagles
e) BAD - LL Cool J
f) hotel california - the eagles
g) i need love - LL Cool J

il probably add to this as i can think of more but please tell us what music makes you tick, what music speaks to you when you listen to it?

Umm... rock, hard rock, soft rock, classical rock, techno, trance, a very very very small amount of rap, did i mention rock? :P

Some of the bands i like:

Disturbed, sublime, stone temple pilots, radiohead, smashing pumpkins, slipknot, throwdown, pearl jam, nirvana, goo goo dolls, flyleaf, the eagles, queen, tool, a perfect circle, mindless self indulgence, etc.

I'm not even going to start listing songs, lol...

Are you ready to rock?

Good topic. Music is real important to me. This is why I live out in the boonies and thank god server rooms are mostly sound-proof.
On long sessions over the console, working on projects, writing, what-not, I have music playing in the background. I guess I don't like to be disturbed, so the music is loud and blocks everything out. I'll still have the TV running in the background, volume off, set to CNN or current.tv

Music does calm the beast within, but it can also stir it up.
I am open to many music types, but I do have favorites. They might be rap, rock, or punk music. Techno is ok, but can seem repetitive. I will either use a 7-disk cd player to shuffle albums, or have it play off the list stored on a hd.

A few that come to mind;

Judas Priest - "You got another thing comin'", "Desert Plains"
The Meatmen - "Turbo rock", play the entire "And you still suck" album
Circle Jerks "Wonderful" "making the bomb"
Suicidal Tendacies "I saw your mommy(and she's dead)"
The Ramones - 'Not afraid to die'
The Exploited -'Live at the whitehouse album, 1984' "Army life", "Dogs of war", "Alternative" and of course "Sex and Violence"
any other album recorded is shit
Easy E - "Nobody Move"
Ice T - "6am" "Sweeze the trigger"
Cheap Trick - "Don't be cruel", "I want you to want me", "The Flame"
Ozzy Osborne "Paranoid" "Ironman"
Faith No More "The real thing" and "spiders from Mars"
The Misfits "Come back" and "Some kinda hate"
Iggy Pop "repo man" <have this on repeat>
The Black crowes "Hard to handle"
U2 "Without you" "Bad"
The Clash "Rock the Casbah" and "Should I stay?"
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Give it away"
The Eagles "Disco Strangler"
Minor Threat "It followed me"
The Sex Pistols - Forget the Bollocks album "Liar" , "problems", "Bodies", and the infamous "God Save the Queen"
Jefferson Starship "Find Your way back"
The Who
The Fixx
Journey
..

mix in a bunch of 80's hits, and you got the soundtrack that plays in my head

Here is the funny part of this thread :
Am I the only one that will stand up and get jiggy and dance \:D/ or play and air guitar when certain songs come on? Its good exercise to prevent DVTs.

Turbonegro - "Denim Demon", the whole "Ass Cobra" album rocks!
Turbonegro - "What is rock?" ...includes the great line "what is rock? rock is the possibility of choking on your own vomit in the back of a rapist's van"
Dead Kennedys - "This could be everywhere"
Jello Biafra & The Melvins - "Lessons in what not to become"
The Melvins - "The talking horse"
The Melvins - the whole "Hostile ambient takeover" album
Sex Pistols - "Bodies" and "Holidays in the sun"
UK Subs - "Ice Age"
Rollins Band - "Liar" and "Disconnect myself"
Slayer - the whole "Seasons in the abyss" album

some less hardcore stuff:
Primus - the whole "Brown album"
Les Claypool and the holy mackerel - "Calling Kyle" and "Delicate tendrils" (awesome!!)
Mr. Bungle - "The air-conditioned nightmare"
Faith No More - "Stripsearch"
Green Day - "Brain stew" and "86"
Nirvana - "Something in the way"

some rap stuff:
Ice Cube - "It was a good day"
Ice T - "New jack hustler"

and some electronic stuff:
Autechre - "Second bad vilbel"
Goldie - BBC essential mix 2007
Roni Size - "Hi-Potent"
Aphex Twin - "Come to daddy"

well, I am not much of a dancer, but when you see a Turbonegro concert in germany: I am the one jumping around like a rubber ball right in front of the stage while being drunk as hell.....and yeah, I can still dance "Jungle" style, but only when I am alone at home with closed curtains...

When I listen to Rock it is either MM (Marilyn Manson) or Rammstein. They are really good bands.

MM-Spade (loves it)
