Sacrifices

We all made sacrifices to be here today.
Sacrifices are things we did without, or extra work we had to keep at. Sacrifices are not really a good thing, in a compromise - you can negotiate for a equal share or balance.

Sacrifices you make, not knowing if you are going to get anything in return.
All the hours you put in school, studying technical manuals, taking apart computers and machines, working in a lab off hours. Tripping on a circuit board.
All the times you didn't go out with your 'buddies', or all those family social events (like christmas!) to stay home on the computer.
You shaped your personality around it, It became you. You though you made a conscious effort to hack, but it consumed you. You are not a hacker by choice, you are a hacker by sacrifice.
Now you don't fit in with your 'mainstream buddies', your social and economic advantages are limited to antisocial, secretive,intellectual-but possibly psychotic true friends online.
You sacrificed a real life,you blew your chance to live like a normal person.

You are who you wanted to be, to be here today.

I chose to be on the computer. I guess I could spend every moment of my free time drinking or getting high but I prefer to be on the computer.
