if the internet does become that....

then ill start spray painting about it and then a couple of my buddies
fucking start a riot with gas masks and a backpack of molotov

there is no one that will ever take away the meaning of internet
without me punching them in the face or doing something about it

there is a vast army of internet addicts out there that will
destroy and protest if this does actually happen.

haha when people cant get their daily porn
there will be a lot of anger.

AT&T...I had some trouble with them already, some customers of mine have email addresses for their sites and prefer to let mails to those addresses be forwarded to the email accounts they got from AT&T bundled with their internet connection.
if the amount of mails reaches a specific amount (or if they simply feel like) they labeled my servers as spam distributors and blocked all traffic....it's like telling people how much mails they are allowed to receive.... :x
had some funny email convos with AT&T yet, because when you want your server IP to be unblocked again you have to fill out a form telling them "what you have done to stop spam", additionally they even ask for sensitive server details. the fun point was that I of course not filled out the form, I asked them for an explanation how it can be possible that my servers are only labeled by AT&T as spam distributors...none of the leading spam lists like Spamhaus listed one of my IPs. they unlocked my IPs without a comment just to lock them again a few days later... after some customers complained at AT&T about interfering with their business (I told them to do) they unlocked them again...hilarious.

that's just an example how AT&T treads the customers....textbook example of a faceless glutton corporation that would do anything to raise profits. good to see that even the ones that usually kiss every global player's ass (republicans) are enraged. but well, I am expecting AT&T to fails miserably, like MS did when wanting to convince the world they "invented TCP/IP" planning to demand copyright fees from every Linux user.
but on the other side the malicious little child in me even hopes AT&T will succeed, because then we will see the biggest DDoS off all times...because this would be a situation when the term "uniting the underground" would come true, simply because nobody that can be labeled as hacker would keep his feet still on such an elementary censorship of anything what true hacking (freedom of information) stands for.

Well in america, I leave the "a" in america little, because we as a country have no BALLS. No one riots, protest or stands up for whats right in america. We all seem to be fine ignoring, or talking about problems, but never acting on them.

My country is going down the shitter. So why do you think anyone will riot? G.Bush is the worst president of all times, but americans continue to do nothing. We are loosing our constitutional rights, but we do nothing because its labeled as protection against terrorism.

The internet will change you watch. It will be filtered and regulated. You watch!!!

Hey floodie, you know I like you  But watch what you say about my country  . Go and stay in another country for awhile and then come back to the usa and say how bad it is here. All countries have their problems, and all governments suck. It is really an issue of humanity - human beings trying to get along together.

You do not have to use the internet. The internet is just a means of communication, what did people do in the old days before being wired? The implication that gov and big biz can stop people from expressing themselves by controlling TV, radio and internet - gives too much value to media.

If you want something to rage about complain about lack of free quality education - an ignorant illiterate society is easier to control. Other countries offer cheap, or free college level schooling while the usa sees it as a business opportunity - sell the info to it citizens...

DNR your a great buy and i think youve totally got something on this one. but one thing i will say is that floodhound didnt so much say that he hates our country. he didnt state he loved it either. all he really said was that its going down the shitter. and in this case im gonna fully agree with him. im still in high school and i easily find that little bit of authority holding me back.
i learn more on my computer than i do in school lol but were are doing all sorts of stupid shit for no good reason.

for example:
there is loads of oil in alaska. we wont drill there because were are trying to preserve nature and the such. yet the town they want to drill in has 7 people in it and its in the middle of nowhere. why not move those seven people to another middle of nowhere with no oil and then drill to help out the country. yet politicians dont do it.
our oil prices have sky rocketed. its because of the middle east and opec. but the biggest thing is that we supply the middle easts wheat. they love their bread. so why dont we just jack up the prices of wheat and blame it on the gas prices. show them that we can control them aswell. yet we dont?

and wahts even worse is all this damn talk of a plan of exit or whatever it is for getting out of iraq. why the hell would you do that. lets announce to the enemy that in 4 months we are going to be completely gone and wont be there anymore. dont you think that all those friggen terroists and extremists would just wait 4 months and start attacking like crazy again.... wow nice job on this one america. be the first wartime counrty to say when they are going to be done with the war.

theres all sorts of just flat out stupid ideas out there. to many to say that this country isnt taking a wrong turn. im not saying i dont love my country. im saying that we are taking a wrong turn. a very very wrong turn.

well, this is not an US phenomenon, same in europe...in germany politicians could quadruple taxes and people would whine and complain, but not rioting.
the western civilization suffers from a fear of "not daring to open your mouth", because people fear repressions by the authorities...seems people have forgotten that the politicians have to do what the people want, not vice versa.
governments and the big corporations behind them (like AT&T) see the people as enemies, as potential risks that have to be controlled and dumbed down....one way to dumb down people is to control their thoughts, and thoughts are based on information.

I love your honesty and always hold no hate towards your comments, I may say that you are rare and stand up for your beliefs, as do I. Many Americans will not.

Simply compare the times today against the 70's. People in the 70's stood up and fought for equal rights, against underhanded wars, but mostly took action and protested. Even if you disagreed with the motives, at the least they stood up and made there presence known. This simply never happens today.

Truthfully I wanted to leave the country, but then I knew I would just be running from my problems. I decided to stay and fight. I am trying to fight back by educating myself and the younger generations. If there ever comes a time where my views are growing and I can protest I will.

Heh funny this is mentioned; I have a story.

My cousin went to protest in Halifax against a free trade agreement called the Atlantica, which would basically export all our power from Eastern Canada to the United States at a discount rate, while our prices climb here in our own Province due to 'power shortages' - the power is exported, because the company doing the exporting has ties to the Government in power.

Anyway, my cousin protested in Halifax and was labeled a malicious protestor and arrested/charged for assault on a police officer after the Police attacked them and they attacked back, though this is not how it was portrayed in the news. I have first person accounts and seen film of the attacks - this never made it into the media though.

Some of the people protesting where associated with the Black Bloc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_bloc) and things got out of hand, I can imagine - I don't agree with their tactics at all and I assume my cousin was labeled guilty by association which is only inevitable.

Anyway, these people do exist who stand up for our rights but you wont find them on the streets, they are in jail. Policing is not 'protection of our liberties' anymore but that of a by-product of Corporatocracy - even worse, Elitism. We have ourself to blame.

Personally, I need to stop buying and do my part that way..I buy too many clothes, beer and computer shit. I am going to start growing more, brewing my own beer and supporting locally - I will try and get more wear out of my shoes and use less gas. This is how we fight, this is what we must do. It starts with us, violence is only necessary as a last resort to protect our liberties.

wow, I thought the black bloc(k) is only an european thing...
I don't like those people because they join demonstrations only to cause trouble, they are not even interested in what the demo is about....but well, on the other side throwing rocks and settings cars on fire seems to be the only way to make it into the media nowadays, peaceful protest: nobody cares.
I can only spek for germany, but "freedom of speech" is a joke here....you ARE allowed to say what you want IF it follows the path of mainstream political correctness. the government is telling the people what their opinion has to be, if I got "democracy" right it should be vice versa...

all those hypocrites are pointing their finger at China now, a good way to divert from the fact they are cutting down human rights in the oh-so-civilized western world whenever they see a chance to:
- freedom of speech: as mentioned above
- freedom to demonstrate: on the last G7 conference in germany demonstrations within a certain radius around the conference area were forbidden...the poor politicians didn't wanted to be disturbed
- right of privacy: there have never been that much information about citizens stored by governments and companies.
- right of information: censorship everywhere, AT&T is just one more.
- right of education: an idiot with a rich family always have better chances for a good education than a genius with a poor family.

I think the real reason why politicians are outraged about AT&T's plan is the fact it would interfere with the business of the big corporations that pay the politicians (AT&T would surely demand a lot of money from every company that want to be available online).

give it up by numbers

Post by DNR »

hey we are all cool here 8)

How does a government keep its people in line? Threat of violence? Jail?

How about a Drug conspiracy?, a sedated society is a controlled society. The government could be allowing drug trade in the country not just because black market money feeds the economy just as well as legit money, but because a 'high' society is compliant, relaxed, and open to suggestion... Naw.

Can the government use media outlets to control mainstream thought? Who really controls the cables, the satellites, and those towers? I still believe some businesses try to honor their privacy policies and refuse to allow government intrusion. But think about it, a government that can wage war on a land far away, flying a $30mil tomahawk missile down a ventilation shaft, firing off shit that is costing $4 trillion dollars a month - what is it to them to walk in to a business and install a blackbox sniffer, or dictate television programming.

You guys all would support these government policies if it was explained clearly:
1. Food, energy, and resources like land are still a very hot commodity - it might not be a battle with clubs and spears like the old caveman days - but everyday countries wage a covert war to weaken another country's hold on their food, energy, and resources. It is hidden aggression, and every man for himself. Which side do you want to be on? The winning side of course, so you can have your game consoles, the cars, and carry-out. A nation starves in africa while my stores carry 86 different kinds of bottle water.
2. Governments wage tit-for-tat battles - no different from your average south LA gang drive-by beef. Holding on to power means you have to constantly play king-of-the-hill games. It can be simple as a smear campaign in the media press, or a hellfire from a UAV. Boys will be boys I guess, I'm glad we got the better toys..
3. No one protest anymore, jobs are scarce so we have to follow a work schedule. We got bills to pay, oh those credit card bills, so we can't even afford a ticket or a day in court. We can get booze, drugs legal or not, and just try to make it through the day. My night-off work and the weekends are like a budwiser commercial - party all the time. We are powerless because We let someone else deal with our problems. We trust the governments because we know we can't trust ourselves.

Its so easy to sit down on the couch and hold that remote, its all the power we need, right?
