Probability Application

Post by isapiens »

Yo guys, i am taking a class on Probability in Electrical engineering. I am supposed to have a final project and i have to come up with a topic. I have no idea on what i am supposed to pick and the professor did not give any examples.

Anyone know about any interesting subjects where people have to use probability. (Like predicting weather kinda deal i guess...)

Well at the moment this comes to mind; think about the measurements of a subatomic particles. It is an interesting concept that we live in a world where nothing exists until it is measured. All that we understand is not reality until we measure it. This is very noticeable when the subject is smaller than a sub atomic particle.

Try measuring - it wont happen, so probability comes into play.

Otherwise give us a more confined set of borders regarding the topic of research that you need.

- Just thinking again; but what about an analog computer? Probability would be all over it.

How about a website or program that you input keywords for search engines, and it gives you a ratio back of how likely it will be to get on the front page of a search engine, which search engines and who is currently in the top positions, it could scan your index page or site and see how well it will do compared to others, and what needs to be done to get higher positions

Off topic: ahaha ^^

On topic: well, that could be anything right? =/ do a work on "the law of fubar". It's like irony, as in shit happens when you least expect it, and what is the probability of that? ^^
