hello all,
yesterday night i was cleaning under my bed, and I saw a plastic bag which I put some of the stuff i don't find space for. Anyways, i looked in it and found a URC, with its special booklet with all the codes for the devices that it can work with. I knew tomorrow at school we were goin to watch a movie: transporter--so i took it to school and when the movie was playing i got into action and started the scanning process...after a white it found the TV, it turned it off. LOL,my friend and I were cracking up hard
the funny part was that, it was an action scene and the whole class were so devistated...
Question: Does every device that supports a remote controller have its own specific code? And is it possible to find that code; how?

First off, all TVs support remote controllers. You just need the code. It's usually to be found somewhere in the manufacturer's site. Just google the model, and you'll find it eventually.
You're lucky your class are a bunch of tech noobs (I suppose...). I did that in my class, and the teacher wouldn't let anyone leave before knowing who had the universal remote. I ended up with a day of internal suspension
Now what would be really cool is if there was some kind of universal remote to shutdown computers with. So like if i were at school and knew my activities were being monitored i could shutdown the teachers computer so they couldn't see what i was doing. Although there's much easier ways to avoid detection it'd still be neat.
i suppose the computer needs to have some sort of connection to something, lol you can't just take off the plug...i mean for laptops; if they have their bluetooth on or wireless...i know there is a remote control for the DELL XPS M1330 i am getting....

they sell keychain remotes with for like $10 at RadioShack
i might end up buying one online
this is a neat trick for bars and places where the TV annoys you.
I bought one of those TV-B-gone things on ebay, that they advertise in 2600, they fit on your keychain auto-scan for the signal so you can control the TV anywhere.. i tried it out and it did not work on all of the newer TV's.. i got it mostly to change the TV station at the local sports bar so i could watch the football games i wanted, but did not work with the newer flatscreen TV's, on my old analog TV's at home it worked on half of the TV's, maybe i got an old version of it off ebay or was useing it wrong but i dont think, its pretty easy to use im pretty sure the newer TV's dont work with it

Thats called killing a windows process at my old job it was called screenagent, if you kill the app/process' in task manager the teacher is useing to monitor your PC they cant see what your doing, allthough they may catch on when your pc is the only one they can not monitor, wonder why, bust you and give you detention or something
