Music boxes?

Post by Swan »

Hi guys....

I am wondering if anyone can possibly help please. I am wanting to try to learn to make music boxes..I do not mean just the box itself, I mean the actual musical scroll. I was wondering if anyone had any input or advice as to this topic.

Thank you.

btw, everyone knows about the cylinder type you crank, but I saw one in a japanese movie - it was a narrow card that was pulled through a box. The box was homemade and contained the metal pins to make sound. The narrow card had the catches etched into it, and 'pinged' the metal pins as it was pulled through the box. Sort of like the old days of computer punchout cards. The box could be crankable, windable, or just mechanical where the user pulls the card through themselves.

This was cool because it allowed you to make other cards with other songs on it or provide a longer song.
