well, yeah, 2 weeks of "maintenance" is surely a little strange, most likely problems with the provider...I mean, we have seen sites already that were offline for half a year because of a "hardware update".... :lol:

The site could be revamping its forum and CMS, or cleaning up from a hack or TOS violation.
If they are going to lose their account you will see the webhost provider take over the index page with their own logo soon.

well, domain registered in Brazil and server location in the Ukraine...I am pretty sure it is some kind of offshore hosting deal where you pay for the server in an anonymous way, good to stay away from lawsuits, but also the best way to get blackmailed by the server provider. I know a site that has such a deal too, and one day the provider decided to lower the resources by 50% and to double the prices.

I've had an account at demonoid for a few years now, and I don't ever use it. It's not as great as it used to be. Just use thepiratebay instead, pretty much all popular torrents on demonoid share trackers with thepiratebay too. (also demonoid doesn't allow porn :( )

Anyways, in all the time that I've went there, maintenance always lasted an hour or two at the most, so it is strange.

Well yeah, there's too many "Come and Go" hosting providers that offer imaginary offers at imaginary prices and these type of hosts can screw their customers at any given time and disappear completely from the internet ... but that doesn't mean that all hosting offshore hosting providers are scammers and don't care about their customers. :wink:

There are many decent and reputable ISPs that happen to be outside the US and their country's law doesn't forbid illegal content.

Offshore != Suck :roll:

Hey an update (taken directly from the site):
Maintenance

We will be back as soon as possible, but this will probably be a prolonged downtime.
Thank you for your patience

Status

The site will return as soon as possible, but there was a problem that caused data loss and the person who can help us get the data back is not able to help at this moment. The site will return when we can get his help

A loss of a some months worth of activity including registered users and torrent submissions is to be expected because the backup we are hoping to get back is not up to date, so please be prepared for it
