It's not that bad man, I have a harder time getting back in Canada to be honest. US Customs: "What are you doing today sir" Me: "Well, buying lots of American shit and increasing your GDP". Customs: "Alright, are you a felon?" Me: "No I am not, sir." Customs: "Have a nice day then".
Be polite, use respect and stroke their ego a bit. You`ll be fine. It also helps to drive a nicer car and be clean cut. First impressions are key. Passing through TSA, I am sure the same thing applies.
