mac powerbook g4 problem

i have a mac and im clueless about them. one day i went and installed a update and had to restart it and when i did the screen was blank. you will hear the mac sound and all but nothing will pop up can anyone help?

hm, is nothing to see at all on the screen or is only the start of the desktop environment failing and you can enter textmode? :-k

its blank the whole time. ive read recently about reset codes for something ive tried 1 of them and the apple came up like it was gonna boot up and i heard the mac chime but nothng after that. i dont have the slightlest clue since im new to macs

Have you got the install disk?

If so will it boot to utilities and find the hdd?

nope didnt buy it brand new bought it off a buddy and he only had laptop and cords

k first thing first. try and get a *cough* free edition of OSX Leapord or whatever it is thats installed. You will need it anyway incase anything goes down so this will be a good start.

Then we can start troubleshooting :wink:

my bro had the same problem with his notebook.
his video card went out and had to get another, he was under warranty thank god :| the price was fierce.

yeah ive heard a few stories about apples prices on repiars people have told me that it could be a hardrive problem or video card or i just need to reset the pram im still trying to figure out exactly what it is :(
