I read about this yesterday. Most people here would be able to repair their own anyway but after seeing this i would recommend anyone who does need to send in their PC for repairs to install a keylogger first.

Also make sure everything is encrypted and backed up if it needs to be on the PC if there is anything you dont want them to see. :wink:

A local news reporter talking about recycling computers - she recommended removing the HDD. :roll:

I think opening the PC case is beyond most users, and this includes doing your own repairs. I find too many people can't deal with cables unplugged - and they never have the OS/driver disks handy

As far as computer repair techs - you hear of them turning in people with kiddie porn on the HDD - so you know they are looking. These are just kids and there is no expectation of privacy. This is why you should only keep the OS on the computer and store your 'data' on mobile storage devices.
