we have a wall again in germany! ^^

um, I guess most of you know about the Berlin wall we had when germany was divided into east and west (german democratic republic and federal republic of germany). the east part was ruled by a socialistic regime, people were not allowed to leave the country for example (many that tried got shot at the border or walked into landmines).
the political party of that regime was the SED (socialistic unitaryparty of germany), after the people started a revolution and east- and west-germany became one again the SED renamed itself to PDS (party of democratic socialism), a littler later they renamed themselves again into "Die Linke" (the leftists).
some days ago people made a little joke at a meeting point of the party by building a nice little wall:

the text says "you're allowed to leave again in 28 years" (the Berlin wall existed 28 years).....

yea I see - some outsiders posted the sign to mock the 'leftist' showing up for the meetings. The irony is they have a right to meet.

While there may not be many physical walls in place between countries, there are firewalls put in place to do the same thing. People can get jailed for attempting to cross those 'walls'. Interesting how society/government has evolved.

yeah, but for me as a german (one that isn't fallen ill with the modern plagues "political correctness" and "appeasement") it is more than that...the fact that they are still allowed to be a party is like pissing on the graves of the victims of the SED regime. one of the party leaders is even known to be a former "IM" (means "inofficial co-worker"). IMs were snitches that worked for the secret service and reported everything they hear...one of them even became the personal assistant of the west-german chancellor in 1973 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_Affair).

I remember the Berlin wall coming down, it was a big piece of my course work in my history exams. The school even ran a trip to give us the chance to actually see the wall before it was brought down. This was also the start of a new era for Germany, families reunited after years apart. It was also the start of the new beginning and is what helped Germany become a major player in Europe once again.

I also agree with both statements here, there are reasons behind why these people should not be able to meet and put there opinions across but while people are still prepared to listen there is nothing much one can do. Freedom of speech now plays a big part in government propaganda and every country needs a smaller organization/opposition to fight against and help keep there own elitist views upon the rest of its civilization.

The country i live in does exactly the same, it is only the last 12 months where they have tried to change the laws in what is preached in public. Without causing any offence to members here, what was happening was public speaking from extremist Muslims uniting for a holy war. It was only the main people or are high up in their own order that spoke out about this and declared that not all Muslims are the same and that these are extremist views and not the views of the general consensus.

To also see and place the opposing facts, there is also the BNP (British national party) which gained seats on the parliamentary council due to propaganda. It was quite amusing to see an Indian standing for the BNP counsel in a certain area airing his views for the party against Muslims. He was just another pawn being used to gain votes. Yes, the two countries/religions may not get on but what he failed to realise was that if the party ever came to power, it would not just be a way of ridding the country of Muslims, but the fact that they would also not be accepted into this regime just as people with disabilities would not be either.

These people hide behind politics as a way of passing on there own extremist views just like most government officials if not all, are involved in some kind of corruption hence the reason i have never voted once in the 18 years i have been eligible.

These parties should be allowed to stand to remind us all of the past and history itself.
