I stumbled upon this link, tried it and wanted to share it here on the forums. Basically this online tool converts any youtube flash file into mp3 file to be downloaded.

There's even a package in ubuntu called youtube-dl

You can use it to download the video you want, in either normal or high quality:

youtube-dl --best-quality --title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

Then you can convert it to an mp3 or aac. Use aac for the high-quality videos to get better sound quality when it's available... For converting you can use ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -i video -vn -acodec copy audiofile

Replace video with the path of the video and audiofile with the name of the audiofile you want with .mp3 or .aac at the end. The reason why you need to specify it yourself is because of "-acodec copy", which means that it just copies the audio. You can also use "-acodec mp3", but then it might convert the audio, and conversion between compressed audio files usually results in horrible quality. Basically, if the video file was in the .mp4 format, use aac, otherwise mp3.
