Welcome my friends I invited from 2600 The Hacker Quarterly (facebook edition) I left the group because I tire of dealing with trolls and wanna-bes to find good people like you. I don't blame the group, it is a picture of society.
I am hoping to unite with some of you at HOPE:X 2014 - "Hackers Of Planet Earth" being hosted by Adrian Lamo, and some of the old crew of 2600. Details soon, its NYC in July.

I will see if I can show up for HOPE.
I have vacation that I can take in Jule and July, so if we are not going down to Vietnam this year, then we can probably go to NYC instead for a week or so.

I thought most of my links (article text, preview) were too intellectual for the group - posts with memes get more comments. Here, it seems more serious and actually more respectful. Here, there is no self censoring because FEDbook is recording everything you do.
Here, your ID is your words - not how many people are on your friend list, or how many posts you 'like' (we don't do that here - we discuss). And we don't troll your emotions for lulz.
It is just a reflection of society - some hacker groups are very bad. Today seems even worst because people figure - they get online to a hosted network, make a cool profile, and follow a bunch of hacker sites and anon groups - they think they are hackers. They could not explain how the typed letters get sent over the internet to appear on the screen in front of them. People want to be us. Flattery is lame yes.
Stuff like HOPE:X 2014, and maybe a few professional conferences too this year - I am out networking for more serious contacts.
I will likely take a train out to NYC, There are other events going on - so the question is how long I stay in NYC
